The Sheffield series is taking on a new scale.

I looks as if the sketches I made when I was in MA this summer are going to be the source of several paintings and at least one 3D wall hanging.

There is an interesting process involved as I use the preliminary sketch to produce others in the same family and then go to color. If I like what happens I then consider going larger with the concept.

In this case I cut and primed a piece of 1/4 inch masonite that is 4’x5’, The color drawing was scaled up to size in charcoal and so far this is the result.

Sheffied #3 in progress. 4’x5′ on masonite.

It’s not done yet. This is where the detail work comes in and depth is created. There will be small changes but I hope they add up to a piece that will jump off the wall.
